Wicked Cellars Wine Tasting with Wines from Barrister Winery, Tempus Cellars and Kontos Cellars

Tempus Cellars

Tempus Cellars is a family owned boutique winery in Walla Walla that released its first vintage in the spring of 2009. Owner and Winemaker, Joe Forest, came to the Walla Walla Valley in 2004. He studied Enology at Walla Walla Community College and began work at Seven Hills Winery as a Crush Assistant. In 2005 he moved on to become the Assistant Winemaker at Dunham Cellars and is currently the Winemaker at Patit Creek Cellars in addition to running his own Tempus Cellars.

2008 Tempus Walla Walla Valley Syrah*** blueberries, tart fruit, cedar

Barrister Winery

A barrister is a type of European lawyer specializing in courtroom advocacy, drafting legal pleadings and giving expert legal opinions.

What began in 1997 with a five-gallon home winemaking kit, by 2001 become a full-fledged mania for Greg Lipsker and Michael White, the two attorneys (barristers) who founded Barrister Winery in a Spokane garage. Their winery grew rapidly and is now located in a 100-year-old brick building in the historic Davenport Arts District in downtown Spokane, Washington and producing over 3,000 cases of wine per year.

Being passionate about wine, Greg and Mike strive to produce only premium quality wine in the style that they like to drink. Although their hobby has grown into a business, it remains a labor of love.

Kontos Cellars

Inspired by their father, Cliff Kontos of Fort Walla Walla Cellars, Cameron Kontos and his brother Chris Kontos have opened Kontos Cellars on the "Incubator Block" (Piper Avenue) of the Port of Walla Walla Regional Airport complex.

The brothers combined their Greek-derived name with the Washington State official insect, the green darner dragonfly, because, as they planned their winery, the brothers noticed dragonflies landing on wine barrels and saw this as a great omen for Kontos Cellars.

Cameron is in charge of winemaking and learned from one of the best Winemakers in Walla Walla, serving as Forgeron Cellars' Marie-Eve Gilla's Assistant Winemaker for seven years.

2007 Kontos Cellars Merlot, Columbia Valley***+ spice, black cherries, full body
