It's been several years since we have had the opportunity to attend a winemaker’s dinner at Wicked Cellars. When we saw Fidelitas wines with winemaker Charlie Hoppes was scheduled to be at Wicked, we just had to go.

About the winery

Wicked Cellars and Fidelitas Winemaking Dinner
Fidelitas is a boutique winery located on the slopes of the Red Mountain AVA led by owner and winemaker, Charlie Hoppes, an acclaimed Columbia Valley vintner whose first crush in Washington was in 1988. Charlie works in partnership with Washington’s finest growers to capture the distinct character of the vineyard and the purest expression of the fruit. Fidelitas wines are handcrafted and aged in small lots, showing exceptional character, varietal expression and structure. Fideltias is faithful to Cabernet Sauvignon, loyal to Bordeaux winemaking techniques, and true to Washington state's unique terroir.

My favored combination was the duck slider and Red Mountain Red, yummy. The rest of the table seemed to enjoy the lamb.

About Martedi Winery

Martedi Winery is a small winery located in the city of Monroe in Washington State. 2010 marked the fourth vintage for this fast growing winery. Our winemaker is Joseph Miglino and he has over 25 years of experience in the wine industry. This winery is operated, primarily, by Joseph, his brother John, and with family and selected friends.

William Church Winery is a boutique winery in Woodinville, Washington owned and operated by Leslie and Rod Balsley since its founding in 2005. While winemaker Marcus Rafanelli performs the winemaking in Woodinville’s warehouse district, the winery has opened a new tasting room in the Hollywood
Schoolhouse area.

They specialize in limited production robust reds and a flagship Viognier with depth and character, each with a unique style all it's own.

This last week we had the good fortune of tasting two fine Kobe beef hamburgers. One from Lombardi's Italian restaurant Everett and the other from Anthony's Woodfired Grill.

Lombardi's is offering on their bar menu a new Kobe beef hamburger with Zoe’s Meats bacon and white cheddar cheese. While Woodfire has cheddar Kobe beef hambur

How did they taste?

 Lombardi's bacon cheeseburger comes out swinging with its bold flavor of white cheddar and the subtle flavors of the Zoe's Meats smoked bacon.

 Woodfired grills cheeseburger yellow cheddar was in the background while the charcoal flavor of the beef was predominate.

 Which one did be like?

 We enjoyed the bold flavors of Lombardi's bacon cheeseburger over that of Woodfires cheeseburger. Because of their different style it would depend on your palate as to which one you would prefer, so we say – “have fun and try both!”
